Bob Takes a Stand on Net Neutrality
September 22, 2008 --
When asked about Network Neutrality, Bob responded: “My position on Net Neutrality is very simple and straightforward. If a vehicle is traveling down the highway, its speed should not be limited by the toll it paid to be there, the brand of the vehicle, who is driving, the name of the business printed on the side or the particular on-ramp it used to get on that highway. The same is true of the data traveling on the internet. If someone is paying for a particular speed of connection, that communication from that connection should not be throttled because of what network boundaries are crossed by packets coming into or leaving that connection. We can’t have companies running segments of the net deciding they don’t like particular companies or political organizations and then slowing or stopping their network traffic.
“Could you imagine driving down a toll road and having to stop and pay an extra fee because you are driving a Ford instead of a Chevy or because you used the right lane on the on-ramp instead of the left? Or even worse, being told you can’t go down this road at all because of a political affiliation! The games some network providers are trying to play are just as ridiculous, even immoral and it should be criminal.
“Because Baucus is afraid to debate me, but says he will answer questions posed by the voters, please call his office today ((202) 224-2651) and ask for his position on Network Neutrality.”
